EARTH COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP

A huge shift in leadership approach is necessary to fuel the Great Turning and establish Earth Community. Navigators seek to learn about, cultivate and practice a form of leadership based on the principles of cooperation, collaboration and compassion, and tap into the collective knowledge, skills and creativity of community.

In her article, Conscious Leadership at the Crossroads of Change, Monica Sharma, Director of Leadership and Capacity Development at the United Nations and co-facilitator for the Navigating the Great Turning Gathering, avows, "Nothing short of a new level of leadership worldwide and a commitment for change will suffice to create a better world for our next generation."

THE EARTH CHARTER

The Earth Charter is a comprehensive ethical framework for sustainability that promotes the interconnected social, environmental and economic aspects of life on Planet Earth. Earth Charter US is the hub for a growing network of grassroots leaders/organizers who practice "The Art of Earth Chartering," to explore concrete ways of implementing the Earth Charter principles and engage in proactive behaviors that improve our lives and our communities. The new website presents multiple opportunities to participate in - or create - on-line communities via forums, discussion groups, and blogs. Many individuals and groups organize Earth Charter Community Summits in the US and cities around the world. The international Earth Charter Initiative provides an abundance of resources to help create Earth Community.
